St Francis Xavier College in Florey identifieda shortage of modern Science andTechnology learning spaces to support itsgrowing student population. The projectinvolved transforming three existing,underperforming classrooms into a newpurpose-built Science and Technologylaboratory that would establish abenchmark for future upgrade works acrossthe College.Due to the requirement to complete theworks within the school’s Christmasshutdown period, early planning andcoordination were critical to projectsuccess. During the latter weeks of thepreceding school term, the project teamfacilitated a series of consultation meetingsto clearly define client objectives,coordinate documentation with the designteam, and confirm scope alignment acrossall disciplines.Multiple site inspections were undertakento assess existing building conditions andminimise construction risk, with keyfindings documented within the projectdrawings. Early engagement with keysubcontractors was also carried out toconfirm service availability and capacity,including water supply and buildingservices, ensuring the project was deliveredefficiently within the constrainedconstruction timeframe.
